Notes - First appearance in Lancaster County: On 22 Dec 1751, Leonard & his wife Elisabeth sponsor the child of Johann Baltus Stahlin & his wife Juditha (born Helin) in the New Holland Lutheran records.
Leonhard Acker first appears on the 1754 Earl Township tax list. He and/or his descendants are taxed in the township thru 1800.
No known connection exists between Leonhard Acker and the other Eckert/Eicher families who later appeared in the township. His surname is consistently spelled with an "A" while the other families are spelled with an "E".
The baptism of three of Leonard & Elisabeth's children are recorded in the New Holland Lutheran records [apparently the baptisms of the other children were not recorded]. Jacob Glaser & his wife Catharine (nee Herter) sponsor all three children. This suggests a close relationship between the families. The tombstones of Jacob & Catharine in the New Holland Cemetery both indicate German origins. Perhaps Elisabeth, wife of Leonard Acker is a sister of Jacob Glaser.
On 17 Sep 1765, Leonard Acre, Jacob Glaser, Frederick Deim, & John Philip Sprecher, all of Earl tp. in Lancaster County, were naturalized. Of great importance, this means that Leonard was born overseas; further, he apparently arrived in this country while a youth under the age of 16 years.
