      IMPORTANT NOTICE[

There is no primary evidence proof that this ISAAC HUNSBERGER is the father of "our" ABRAHAM HUNSBERGER of Hilltown Township whose son CHRISTIAN came to Canada. See the biographical text for ABRAHAM HUNSBERGER for explanations of the confusion in the Hunsberger records and the reasons for the connections I made.

ISAAC HUNSBERGER inherited 102½ acres from his father's will in 1749. It was in Franconia Township, Montgomery County, Pa. In 1994 it is in the western outskirts of Souderton just east of Cowpath Lane. Highway # 113 runs right through the centre of this property. In my files are historic and modern maps showing the location.

However ISAAC had already started purchasing land in Rockhill Township, Bucks County just across the county line. So he sold the 102½ acres to his brother Abraham. It is interesting to note that in 1785 he bought it back and willed it to his daughter Christiana Gerhart.

The land ISAAC purchased in Rockhill Township totalled over 600 acres in the area around Sellersville. The first purchase was 138 acres for £576 from Walter McCool. It was located on the northeast branch of the Perkiomen Creek. Copy of the deed in my files is dated 24 February 1757 recorded 17 February 1768. It is taken from Bucks County Deed Book 12 Page 56.

The next was 307 acres for £950 from Anthony Hains. It was on Three Mile Creek adjacent to the original land. Copy of deed in my files is dated 30 May 1766 recorded 17 February 1768 taken from Bucks County Deed Book 12 Page 58.

Then a small plot of only 4 acres for £150 from Henry Sellers. This also was on the northeast branch of Perkiomen Creek. Because of the price I assume there was a mill on this land that was included with the land. Copy of the deed in my files is dated 6 February 1768 recorded 1 February 1776 taken from Bucks County Deed Book 18 Page 39.

Finally ISAAC purchased 156 acres for £313 from William Penn heirs and again it was on Three Mile Creek adjacent to all the other land. Copy of the deed in my files is dated 14 June 1770 recorded 19 April 1775 taken from Bucks County Deed Book 17 Page 19. It is interesting to note that this property had been part of some "original Manor Lands" that William Penn had set aside for his own family use.

All of the above properties were in what in 1994 is the western outskirts of the town of Sellersville. Copies of historic and modern maps are in my files showing the locations.

ISAAC was taxed £15 in 1778. This is shown in the tax records for Bucks County, Rockhill Township. Copy of this page is in my file.

ISAAC HUNSBERGER was exempted from military duty in 1782 "because of religious scruples". This is shown on page 56 of the HISTORY OF SOUDERTON by Henry S. Landis published in 1930. .

Copy of ISAAC HUNSBERGER'S will is in my files dated 13 December 1785 proved 20 October 1789 taken from Bucks County Will Book 5 Page 148 Will # 2202. Also copies of the will abstract and the inventory made by the executors. He willed £100 to his son ABRAHAM plus his share of the proceeds from the sale of all the property. The exception was the home farm of 274 acres which was not to be sold until after the death of his wife Catherine.

ISAAC HUNSBERGER is buried in the ROCKHILL MENNONITE CEMETERY which is located on the west side of Meeting House Road south of County Road # 152. Isaac's tombstone is in the 15th row as you enter the cemetery and is the 33rd stone from the left side. Photographs taken in 1994 of Isaac's stone and the general cemetery are in my files.

CATHERINE ELIZABETH (Isaac's wife) was buried in the cemetery of the Christ Reform Church of Indian Creek which is located in Telford, Franconia Township.
